Earlier this year, Google and Samsung announced that they had merged their wireless file-sharing features—Nearby Share and Quick Share—into a single brand: Quick Share. The change arrived first on the Galaxy S24 series and was then made available to other Galaxy smartphones and tablets. Now, that rebranding has occurred on Windows.

Google Nearby Share for Windows gets rebranded to Quick Share from Google

It is being reported that Google has now released an update to the Nearby Share for Windows app. After installing the update, the app is renamed to Quick Share from Google, and that is pretty much the only change the app has seen. The whole look and feel, except for the new Quick Share logo, looks similar to the previous version of the app. You still need to be signed into a Google account to use the feature.

Google Nearby Share For Windows Renamed To Quick Share

Samsung also developed a Quick Share app for Windows for its Galaxy Book laptops. It also received the new branding a few days ago via an app update. However, there are now two apps for Windows that are named Quick Share; one is developed by Google and Samsung makes the other. It remains to be seen if and when those two apps will be merged.

Earlier, only Samsung devices could share files wirelessly with each other via Quick Share. After the new update, all Android smartphones will be able to share files wirelessly using the new Quick Share feature. Files can also be shared between Android smartphones/tablets and computers running Windows and Quick Share.
