New Microsoft Surface Pro uses Samsung’s OLED screen

Microsoft recently unveiled its new Surface lineup of Windows devices. For the first time, the Surface Pro has received an OLED screen, and it uses a panel from Samsung Display.

This move came just weeks after Apple unveiled its first iPad Pro with an OLED screen.

According to display industry insider Ross Young, Microsoft's new Surface Pro (11th Gen) hybrid laptop uses an LTPS OLED panel from Samsung Display.

It is a 13-inch OLED touchscreen panel with a resolution of 2,880 x 1,920 pixels, 600 nits full-screen peak brightness, and 900 nits local peak brightness. The display panel has a 60-120Hz variable refresh rate. It also supports HDR video playback, complete with Dolby Vision IQ support.

The screen is protected using Gorilla Glass 5 and has 10-point multitouch sensing capabilities. It is a great multimedia machine with 2W stereo speakers, Bluetooth LE audio, and the Surface Pen.

The Galaxy Book 4 Edge, Galaxy Book 4 Pro, Galaxy Book 4 Pro 360, and Galaxy Book 4 Ultra also use an OLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate, and you can watch some of them in our hands-on video below.

11th Gen Surface Pro features

The Surface Pro features a Snapdragon X Plus or Snapdragon X Elite processor, depending on the variant, 16GB/32GB LPDDR5x RAM, and 256GB/512GB/1TB storage. It runs Windows 11 optimized for ARM64 architecture and features Copilot+ PC branding, thanks to its 45TOPS-capable NPU.

It has a QHD webcam with Windows Hello support and a 10MP rear-facing autofocus camera with 4K video recording. It has two USB 4.0 Type-C ports, a Surface Connect port, Wi-Fi 7, and Bluetooth 5.4. It has a 51Wh battery with 65W charging support.
