One UI 5.0 update has landed on the Galaxy Tab Active 3 in Europe

Samsung can once again say that it released the One UI 5.0 update earlier than initially planned, which is quite a feat, considering the large number of Galaxy devices that have received Android 13 over the past few weeks. Now it's time for the Galaxy Tab Active 3 to join the One UI 5.0 party.

Samsung's tentative One UI 5.0 release roadmap for Germany mentioned that the Galaxy Tab Active 3 should receive One UI 5.0 in January 2023. The roadmap, albeit for Germany, gave us an estimate as to when we can expect the update to roll out across Europe. And before you get too excited, assuming you live in Germany, the Galaxy Tab Active 3 hasn't received Android 13 in your country just yet.

However, Samsung has started seeding the One UI 5.0 update for the Galaxy Tab Active 3 in Switzerland, which should mean that more countries across Europe should get the same treatment fairly soon — presumably before the end of 2022.

One UI 5.0 is now live for the 2020 rugged Galaxy tablet

Galaxy Tab Active 3 users in Switzerland should now be able to update the rugged tablet to Android 13 and One UI 5.0 upon receiving the notification or by accessing the Settings app, navigating to “Software update,” and tapping “Download and install.” Alternatively, they can download the official firmware files from our website.

The update carries firmware version T575XXU3EVK7 and includes the November 2022 security patch. Through One UI 5.0, Galaxy Tab Active 3 users should have access to a new taskbar and new gestures for multi-window — both great features for productivity. Performance should be snappier, and the Settings menu got a slight redesign for easier access to some features. The update introduces new lock screen customization options, an easier way of monitoring background apps, and more.

If you're in the market for a rugged Galaxy tablet, you probably won't find the Galaxy Tab Active 3 on sale with ease, as it is a 2020 model. You may have more luck with the Galaxy Tab Active 4 Pro, which Samsung released only a few months ago. However, the latest model doesn't yet run One UI 5.0.
