You can prevent cleaning apps from your Galaxy phone’s memory

Tips & Tricks

Samsung's Device Care suite for Galaxy devices lets you monitor and optimize the battery, storage, and memory in just a few taps. It also allows you to manually free up your phone's RAM by stopping background apps in one go.

As you may know, you can do this by opening the Settings app, accessing “Device Care,” tapping “Memory,” and pressing the “Clean now” button. However, this option will remove any and every background app from memory

But there is a way to add apps to an exclusion list, so they'll never be removed from memory when you perform these maintenance tasks via Device Care.

Prevent apps from being cleaned from memory

To add apps to this exclusion list, go to “Device Care” and access “Memory.” Then, simply tap the “Excluded apps” option, tap the “+” button in the upper-right corner, select the app you want to exclude, and tap “Add.”

The selected app will now remain in memory even if you perform memory cleaning tasks like “Clean now.” And if you ever want to remove an excluded app from the exclusion list, tap and hold it, then tap “Remove.”

Every new Galaxy phone user should know about this routine

Samsung was among the first OEMs to implement the Always On Display (AOD) feature on its smartphones, and to this day, AOD remains a staple of the Galaxy phone experience. With the Galaxy S24 series, AOD became even more prominent because it can now work full-screen and show a faint wallpaper when you're not using […]

One UI 7.0 will feel completely different even in early beta

Samsung might be taking its time launching the One UI 7.0 beta program, but it could be for the better. By all accounts, One UI 7 isn't just another incremental upgrade but almost like a reimagining of Samsung's proprietary skin for Android. The company better get it right, even if it comes at a time […]

How cool would a Galaxy AI dual-phone Interpreter mode be?

Interpreter is one of the best Galaxy AI features for Samsung phone users who often travel to countries where they encounter language barriers. Granted, it is a niche feature, but it is one that some Galaxy phone users find extremely useful. If you're unfamiliar with this tool, Interpreter leverages AI to allow Galaxy device owners […]
