Samsung ended Galaxy Unpacked 2024 on a cliffhanger. After the company revealed the Galaxy S24 series and many of its new AI features in detail, it confirmed that a new Health wearable, i.e., the Galaxy Ring, is on the way. Samsung didn't reveal anything about the Ring's specifications or release date to the public, and the only information we got was a brief overview of the Ring's design.

Thankfully, the Galaxy Ring seems to be on track for a release this year. The Global head of B2B Wearable/IoT/Accessory at Samsung Electronics, Daniel Seung, recently confirmed via LinkedIn that the Korean tech giant wants to introduce this “new health & wellness wearable product in the 2nd half” of 2024.

Galaxy Ring may be coming at the next Unpacked 2024

Given this new information and the fact that the Galaxy Ring is a big deal, we don't expect Samsung to release this wearable without much fanfare.

It is likely that the Galaxy Ring could be present at Samsung's next big launch event of the year, where devices like the Galaxy Watch 7 and Galaxy Z6 foldable phones are expected to hit the stage.

Samsung hasn't revealed when the next Unpacked 2024 event should unfold, but it's usually scheduled every year within the July-September timeframe.

The Galaxy Ring is one of Samsung's most exciting wearable devices in recent years, particularly for Samsung Health enthusiasts who want to use the platform but aren't necessarily fond of Galaxy watches or would prefer wearing classic timepieces.

Even though we don't know much about the Galaxy Ring's capabilities, its simplistic design should allow people to gather health and fitness information seamlessly. The Galaxy Ring should go well with virtually any fashion style for any occasion.

We're also guessing that Samsung Health users will be able to combine the Galaxy Watch with the Galaxy Ring for more advanced and accurate fitness tracking. But exactly what cool new features Samsung may have prepared for future Galaxy Ring wearers is unclear.

Editor's Note: The release of the Galaxy Ring may also coincide with the announcement of Samsung's upcoming mixed-reality headset. If so, there's a lot of potential for the Galaxy Ring to offer features for AR/VR users and create a more appealing device ecosystem. Maybe the Ring could double as a controller for the glasses or offer better hand-tracking. Many possibilities exist, but we'll have to wait and see how exactly Samsung will approach these new and upcoming devices.

Samsung was among the first smartphone brands to offer Qi wireless charging, and it consistently provides 15W fast wireless charging. However, it missed a beat by not offering the Qi2 wireless charging standard with the Galaxy S24. We thought Samsung wouldn't adopt the new wireless charging standard soon, as Apple originally developed it. However, Samsung […]

Weirdly, using a laptop made me stop wearing my Galaxy Watch

I stopped wearing my Galaxy Watch 5 at night a few months ago because the BioActive sensor would turn on in the early morning, even in Sleep Mode, and wake me up hours before the alarm would go off. I'm not sure if it's a defect or what, and maybe newer Galaxy Watch models don't […]
