After nearly a year and a half since the Galaxy Tab S8 series was released, Samsung is readying a sequel for an unveiling later this month. Based on leaks, the upcoming Galaxy Tab S9 is leaving TFT LCD technology behind for an AMOLED display upgrade. While at the same time, it loses the ultrawide camera. How will these changes affect pricing, and how much will the Galaxy Tab S9 series cost? Well, there are a couple of theories.
One pricing theory for Europe emerged last weekend, seemingly based on third-party retailer prices. And now a new rumor (via @_snoopytech_) may have shed light on the Galaxy Tab S9 series' prices for Canada.
The entry-level 11-inch Galaxy Tab S9 equipped with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage will supposedly cost CAD 1,099 ($831). The 12.4-inch Galaxy Tab S9+ with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage should cost CAD 1,349 ($1,020), and last but not least, the 12GB+256GB Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra may have a CAD 1,599 ($1,210) price tag.
As a reminder, the Galaxy Tab S8, Tab S8+, and Tab S8 Ultra debuted in Canada for CAD 899, CAD 1,149, and CAD 1,399, respectively.
Will the Galaxy Tab S9 series cost more?
If this information is correct, the Galaxy Tab S9 series will set Canadians back an additional CAD ~200. Then again, these might be pre-release third-party retailer prices, in which case, Canadians may not have to pay as much for the Tab S9 if they buy from Samsung or its retail partners.
It seems like whether the Galaxy Tab S9 series will see any price increase at all is to be determined. On the one hand, an additional CAD 200 is nothing to sneeze at, and such a price increase seems likely. On the other, Samsung may see the changes introduced to the series this year as reason enough for a price adjustment.
Samsung will host Galaxy Unpacked on July 26 in Korea. The Galaxy Tab S9 tablets are among the devices expected to appear at the event. Samsung will also announce two new Galaxy Watches, the Galaxy Z Flip 5, and the Galaxy Z Fold 5.
Fans can pre-register for these devices, and the company will reward customers with $50 in Samsung Credit.
