With One UI 6.1 out for almost every eligible Galaxy phone and tablet, all eyes are soon going to turn towards One UI 6.1.1, which will debut on the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 in July.
However, like previous mid-year One UI updates, version 6.1.1 will focus mostly on Samsung's flagship phones, foldables, and tablets. One UI 7.0 is the next One UI update that Samsung will release for the masses.
One UI 7.0 will come bundled with Android 15, and most Galaxy phones and tablets launched in the last two years will get it. But when we can expect One UI 7.0 to arrive?
One UI 7.0 could land on Galaxy devices sometime in October
Going by the release of One UI 6.0 and One UI 5.0, our best guess is that One UI 7.0 will land on Galaxy devices sometime in the second half of October.
We usually expect Samsung to get faster every year when it comes to releasing major new One UI updates. But the company may not be able to do so this year. That's because Samsung took considerable time to make One UI 6.1 available for eligible devices compared to One UI 5.1 and earlier versions.
Galaxy AI is likely to blame for why One UI 6.1 development took so long, and if Samsung plans to bring new AI features with Android 15/One UI 7.0, we might see the company delaying its official release to November or later.
One UI 7.0 will be available in beta before official release
As always, Samsung is likely to provide users the chance to test the latest major One UI and Android upgrade through a beta program. The Galaxy S23 One UI 6.0 beta program went live in August last year, but like its official version, there's a chance One UI 7.0's beta version could get delayed as well.
We may be able to get a better idea of One UI 7.0's possible release timeframe—for the beta and the final version—based on how Samsung handles bringing the One UI 6.1.1 update to existing devices. But until Samsung officially announces things, it's all speculation that may or may not end up being accurate.
