There's a lot that Samsung Wallet users in India can do on the app, and now, they'll be able to do a lot more. The company announced today that Samsung Wallet users in the country will be able to book tickets for flights, bus trips, movies, and events in the app.
This has been made possible by the company's collaboration with One97 Communications that owns the Paytem brand in the country. Tickets purchased via the app can be added directly to the Wallet using the direct functionality.
Service is powered through Paytm
Samsung Wallet will now provide a seamless and integrated booking experience for flight, bus, movie, and event tickets in the app itself. This service will be facilitated through Paytm. With tickets being added to Samsung Wallet directly, users will be able to access cinema halls, event venues, airports, and bus terminals using just the digital ticket on their phones.
Samsung and Paytm will soon offer discounts as well to promote this newly launched service. There's going to be a referral program being added soon as well. Each time a Samsung Wallet user refers someone, they and the referee will get an Amazon India gift card worth Rs. 100 ($1.2) upon successful registration.
The company may have launched this service in collaboration with the entity that owns the Paytm brand in India, but it doesn't market the return of Paytm to Samsung Wallet. The app lost its Paytm Wallet integration in February this year as Paytm Bank was banned by the Reserve Bank of India due to non-compliance and supervisory concerns.
