Samsung was one of the first phone makers to ship 5G devices at scale, back when it launched the Galaxy S10 5G in 2019. It would take Apple a couple of more years to bring 5G to its iPhones.

5G has since become almost ubiquitous on the company's entire smartphone range, with some of its most affordable models also boasting compatibility. This has enabled the company to beat Apple's iPhones in terms of customer satisfaction among customers in the United States.

Samsung's 5G phones are keeping the iPhone on its toes

5G phones are increasingly becoming popular in the United States as mobile carriers have worked hard to expand coverage across the country over the past few years. Phones with 5G compatibility have also become much cheaper, enabling a lot more customers to get in on the action without having to spend a fortune.

Having a product range that runs the entire price spectrum works well in Samsung's favor, as it can provide 5G phones in price segments where Apple doesn't even compete. This has enabled the company to beat the iPhones in customer satisfaction among 5G phone owners in the United States, as revealed in the latest American Customer Satisfaction Index Wireless Phone Service and Cell Phone study.

Apple and Samsung have been pretty neck and neck for the lead but Samsung has now edged ahead, scoring 83 points compared to Apple's 82. Samsung's lead in the study is also attributed to its superior screen quality as well as the ease of use of the One UI skin.

As far as customer satisfaction for phones overall is concerned, Apple and Samsung are both tied in first place with 82 points. Customer satisfaction with Samsung's 5G phones is actually up 3% over last year while Apple only saw a 1% increase, enabling the two companies to tie at the top spot.
