Samsung’s One UI 6.1 packs Galaxy AI, a set of very useful AI-powered features. One of the best features it offers is Google’s Circle to Search, which allows you to search for anything on the display by just drawing a circle around the object.
Sadly, Circle to Search doesn’t support barcodes. That is, if you draw a circle around a barcode, instead of providing you information about that barcode, it shows images of other barcodes. Well, Google is working on solving that drawback.
According to a new report from Android Authority, the latest beta version of the Google app for Android (version 15.19.45.29), the app that offers Circle to Search on Android devices, mentions this string of code: <string name=”omnient_1d_barcode_action”>Search this barcode</string>.
The story continues after the video…
As you can see, this string of code contains the word ‘omnient,' the codename for Circle to Search, and then mentions the word ‘barcode.' Both of these suggest that Google is working on adding the ability to scan barcodes to Circle to Search.
At the moment, there’s no information about when Google will update Circle to Search with the ability to scan barcodes. However, we expect the company to do so in the next few weeks/months. In the meantime, you can check out our video above to learn more about Galaxy AI.
