Introduction
The Galaxy A7x lineup sits on the top range of Samsung's best-selling Galaxy A series. Samsung usually sets it apart just enough from the rest of the models so as to not cannibalize their sales. It was a similar story with the Galaxy A73 in 2022.
Samsung usually gives the Galaxy A7x lineup the most ambitious camera upgrades that it destines for the Galaxy A series. That holds true for the Galaxy A73 as well. In addition to that, it's a well-rounded device with respectable specs.
Design
The Galaxy A73's design is quite similar to that of its predecessor. The plastic back is simple and free of any outlandish designs. This actually gives the device quite a sleek look. The camera island curves up in a very beautiful fashion from the back panel.
All of the physical buttons are present on the right side of the frame. The Galaxy A73 measures 76.1 x 163.7 x 7.6mm and weighs 181g.
Specifications
Under the hood, the Galaxy A73 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G chipset. This 5G-enabled package is hooked up with 6/8GB RAM and 128/256GB storage. There's a microSD card slot for external memory expansion up to 1TB. Samsung has removed the 3.5mm headphone jack from the device.
Keeping the lights on is a 5,000mAh battery that has support for 25W fast charging. Unlike its predecessor, the Galaxy A73 does not come with a charger in the box.
Display
The Galaxy A73 gets a 6.7-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED+ Infinity-O display with a 120Hz refresh rate. The cutout for the selfie camera houses a 32-megapixel sensor. The display is capable of getting nice and bright, particularly under direct sunlight.
Camera
One of the biggest changes that Samsung has made to the Galaxy A73 is in the camera department. It comes with a 108-megapixel optically stabilized primary sensor coupled with a 12-megapixel ultrawide, 5-megapixel depth and 5-megapixel macro sensor.
While Samsung has added its high megapixel camera to the device, it has taken away the zoom camera that was present on the Galaxy A72. So users will miss out on the optical zoom capabilities.
Software and Features
Samsung has confirmed that the Galaxy A73 will ship with Android 12 and One UI 4.1. This device is also eligible for four Android OS upgrades in addition to five years of security patches. The improved software update makes the Galaxy A73 stand out from the competition.
Availability and Price
The Galaxy A73 was unveiled on March 17, 2022. The handset is set to hit shelves in select markets starting April 22. Pricing to be confirmed at a later date.
