Kaspersky Lab Extends Real-time Data Protection To Hitachi NAS Platform Systems
Kaspersky Lab joins Hitachi Technology Alliance Program to anticipate tomorrow’s security problems
Kaspersky Lab, a vendor of endpoint protection solutions, has joined the Hitachi Technology Alliance Program, a Hitachi Data Systems platform that seeks to foster synergistic combinations of partner technology with Hitachi technology to create best-of-breed solutions.
As a first step in this partnership, the companies have successfully certified and validated the Kaspersky Security for Storage solution for Hitachi NAS Platform 3000 and 4000 data storage systems, resulting in a higher level of anti-malware protection and mitigation against cyber threats.
Terrifying speed
Organisations are increasingly overwhelmed not only by the exponential growth of structured and unstructured data, but additionally the pressure to move towards virtualisation and the complexities of protecting corporate data in locations that are both on and off premises. Lethal malware can spread throughout an organisation at terrifying speed, capitalising on the interoperability of modern networks. In an ever-growing threat landscape, a single infected file unknowingly placed into storage can expose every node on the network to immediate risk.
Kaspersky Security for Storage, marketed as a high-performance, server-side solution, is said to provide robust, scalable ‘always-on’ protection and superior fault tolerance for valuable and sensitive corporate data. Kaspersky’s powerful anti-malware engine scans every file launched or modified for all forms of malware, including viruses, worms and Trojans. Advanced heuristic analysis identifies even new and unknown threats. If malware is detected, the solution removes all malicious code from the infected files, deletes the files in question, or quarantines them for further analysis. Kaspersky Security for Storage includes a simple, intuitive central administration tool, the Kaspersky Security Centre, which enables remote installation and configuration support.
Nikita Shvetsov, chif technology officer, Kaspersky Lab, said: “A data storage system without anti-malware protection is a direct threat to the security of the corporate IT infrastructure. It is imperative that organisations provide protection against cyber-threats on every node where data is stored and processed, not only on workstations. We are glad to collaborate with Hitachi Data Systems to ensure its high-performance Hitachi NAS Platform, 3000 and 4000 series, data storage systems are among those protected by our technologies.”
Neil Colstad, vice president, ISV Alliances and Verticals, said: “Kaspersky Lab’s builds its products, like its Security for Storage solution, to not only address today’s security problems, but also to anticipate and prevent tomorrow’s. This closely aligns with our own Hitachi Data Systems objective to help our partners and customers adapt, innovate and win amidst changing circumstances with the power of information. We are happy to have Kaspersky Lab as part of our Hitachi Technology Alliance Program.”
