The capsule of the ECM-L1 is based on the ECM-77 series, widely used and trusted by sound professionals along with Sony's other pro audio products. Lavalier microphones can be positioned closer to the speaker's mouth, for superior audio pick-up and better audio definition than can be obtained from the built-in microphones in cameras and other devices located further away.
The microphone capsule is enclosed in the highly robust external brass housing that resists deformation and protects the microphone from damage even under the rigours of on-location use.
The 2-core shielded cable suppresses extraneous noise, and its 2.2 mm diameter makes it resistant to breakage. A locking ring prevents accidental disconnection from the recording equipment.
