Amazon Prime Day is officially over since we passed midnight on July 17 and many of the best bargains have sold out, but there's still superb discounts to be had following the two-day event in the US and UK.

There are some excellent Prime Day robot vacuum deals to be had from Roborock; this one will get you the Q7 Max robovac with a sweet 63% off. This one will vacuum and mop simultaneously and has a combined dustbin and water tank for convenience. There's up to 4,200Pa suction, it'll automatically up its power when it detects it's on carpet, and it can run for up to 180 minutes off a full battery charge. It's available in both black and white, too.

Shark NV356E Navigator Lift-Away Professional Upright Vacuum: was $199 now $159.99 at Amazon
Upright vacuums are generally the best option for maximum suction power, so if you need to do a deep clean, then this is a good shout. The dust cup mechanism can be removed and held, to make it the vacuum more maneuverable, when you need to get into tight corners. The Shark NV365E Navigator comes in white and silver and has 20% off in a limited time deal; the NV360 in blue is also discounted, but it's slightly more expensive at $169.99 right now.

Roborock S8 Pro Ultra Robot Vacuum and Mop: was $1,599.99 now $949.99 at Amazon
Looking for a premium robot vacuum at a less premium price? There's 41% off this impressive Roborock for Prime day, delivering the lowest price we've seen and giving you a lot for your money including great vacuuming and mopping, an intuitive app with intelligent mapping, and fantastic auto-emptying and self-cleaning through its docking station. We haven't tested this specific model yet, but we are big fans of the brand, and this vac packs a load of Shark vacuum technologies that have impressed us in other reviews. For example, there are sensors that adjust suction when they detect dirt, an odor-neutralizing puck that leaves floors smelling fresh, and a self-cleaning brushroll that siphons off hair into the dust cup as you clean. Ahead of Prime Day there's a massive 25% off – this is a deal we've seen before, but it's rarely bettered, and it's excellent value for a vacuum with these specs.

Shark AZ3002 Stratos Upright Vacuum: was $499.99 now $399.99 at Amazon
The market may be dominated by cordless stick vacuums right now, but if you want a true deep clean, a corded upright often your best bet for outright power. In our Shark Stratos Upright vacuum review we were impressed with the way the dust cup section can be removed from the wand, and a flexible hose swapped in for getting into tricky corners. There's currently $100 off at Amazon, and you can get the same deal at Best Buy. This discount has just increased, but it's not quite the cheapest we've seen it – it might be worth holding off to see if it gets a bigger price drop on Prime Day itself.

If you have a mucky pup (or cat) and don't want to face the horror of a robot vacuum making a mess a whole lot worse, the Roomba J7+ comes with iRobot’s P.O.O.P (Pet Owner Official Promise), which means it'll automatically avoid pet waste. Tineco Floor One S5 Extreme Vacuum and Mop: was £399 now £279 at Amazon
For a cost-effective way to get hard floors really clean, the Tineco Floor One S5 Extreme is a decent option. It's cordless with up to 35 mins runtime, and it'll both vacuum and mop hard floors in one go, tacking everything from pet hair to sticky messes and getting really close to edges. While we haven't reviewed the Extreme model, our standard Tineco Floor One S5 review can give you a good idea of this one's capabilities.

Shark Anti Hair Wrap Cordless Pet Vacuum: was £379.99 now £229.99 at Shark
There's £150 off this versatile cordless stick vac at at Shark right now, although it looks like the SHRKCLEAN10 code has expired which was taking an extra 10% at the checkout. Ideal for pet owners, it comes complete with a pet tool as well as Shark's anti hair wrap technology, and we well as working on both carpet and hard floors it also features a bendable hose for getting under furniture. Don't hang about on this offer, though, as it's only available for a limited time.

Vax Blade 4 Dual Pet & Car Cordless Vacuum Cleaner: was £369.99 now £219 at Amazon
This Vax cordless vac has a massive 41% off for Prime Day. In our Vax Blade 4 Cordless Vacuum Cleaner review, we were impressed with the suction power and swappable batteries, which deliver a total of 90 minutes cleaning time. The main vacuum can be a little cumbersome in handheld mode, but the flexible hose should be better for getting into awkward corners. There's also a motorized tool specifically for getting pet hair out.

When is Amazon Prime Day 2024?

Amazon is officially over since we passed midnight on July 17. However, some deals are available post the two-day sale event. We had deals ahead of the big day, but the very best offers were indeed over the two-day sale. If you missed out on the July sale, don't panic, because we'll likely have another Amazon Prime Day mid-October.

Is Amazon Prime Day the best time to buy a vacuum cleaner?

It can be, but it very much depends on what you're looking for. If you're in search of a Shark vacuum cleaner then there's a very good chance of finding a discount, although it may not be at Amazon; we've seen some great bargains there, however we've also found that it pays to double-check at Shark itself, as it's currently running its own deals that in many cases undercut Amazon's pricing with codes to apply at checkout.

Amazon Prime Day could also be a good opportunity to save on a Dyson, although you shouldn't get your hopes up for massive discounts on its premium vacs. We've already spotted worthwhile deals on the Dyson V8 on both sides of the Atlantic, and we'll be keeping our eyes peeled for savings on other models.

Whichever brand you're interested in, can be well worth watching out for savings on older models. Because vacuum cleaner tech doesn't date as quickly as big ticket items such as computers and TVs, buying an older model for a low price means you won't have to compromise as much on performance as you might think.

And finally, you're likely to come across a lot of enticing Prime Day vacuum cleaner deals from brands you've never heard of. They might look tempting, but we'd advise caution: if a deal looks too good to be true then it probably is.
