Pennywise from “It” Has Been Dubbed a Gay Icon by the Internet

Another horror villain has become a gay icon. Welcome to the fam, Pennywise.

If you haven't had the chance to watch the horrifying flick It yet, it's about a couple of youngsters facing off against one of the most terrifying beasts in horror film history: a clown named Pennywise. And while the creature is most definitely evil and everything, he's painted for the gods, mama.

Since the movie hit theaters last weekend, many people began to wonder: Is Pennywise gay? The hypothesis has since snowballed on the interwebs, with people now dubbing the clown as a gay icon. This also happened earlier this year when the Babadook was heralded the same. Many are even shipping Pennywise and Babadook together, with numerous Tumblr posts and tweets arguing that their relationship is totally real. Talk about a power couple, right? And we have got to say, the fan art of the two together is pretty stupendous.

However, some have taken issue with Pennywise getting all the attention. Some have pointed out that it's unfair that Anabelle from the self-titled Anabelle horror flick hasn't been afforded the same honor. Others argue that Pennywise is actually a lesbian considering that one of its forms is a monstrous female spider.

So, are the Babadook and Pennywise actually together? Guess we'll have to wait for a sequel to find out.
