Vodafone is among the biggest mobile network providers in the UK, offering every type of plan and broadband too.

Vodafone has great deals on SIM-only contracts and pay-as-you-go SIM plans, which can be an excellent choice if you want a more flexible contract. Vodafone also uses the 5G network, and offers it with any type of deal, for a faster or more reliable internet connection.

SIM-only Xtra plan

Benefit from up to four extras every month with a Vodafone SIM-only Xtra plan. You get to choose between two and four extras, and you pay only for the extra service on top of your pay-monthly SIM plan. Xtra benefits include:

• Inclusive roaming in 83 destinations worldwide
• Facility to send unlimited picture messages
• Inclusive device care to make sure your smartphone runs at its best
• Money off smartwatch connectivity on a monthly basis

Xtra benefits can be added to any Vodafone SIM-card plan but are particularly popular with the Unlimited Max plan.

SIM-only Entertainment plan

A Vodafone Entertainment plan gives you access to YouTube Premium, Amazon Prime or Spotify Premium, so you can enjoy any of these services ad-free. Entertainment can be added to any SIM-only plan of your choice.

Data-only SIM

A data-only SIM is designed to let you enjoy data while you’re on the go, whether it’s on your tablet, laptop or a mobile phone that needs a WiFi connection. Simply plug the data extension into your device and you’ll be connected to the internet.

Pay-as-you-go SIM

A pay-as-you-go SIM is ideal if you already have a mobile phone and need a flexible data plan that won’t bind you to a long-term contract. Pay-as-you-go tariffs come with many perks, including data rollover and not needing to carry out a credit check, so you may find that a one-month rolling tariff will suit you better. Pay-as-you-go Extras are also can be added to the following plans.

Pay-as-you-go bundles

These 30-day bundles come with data, minutes, and texts. Select the plan that best fits your data usage, all plans come with unlimited minutes and texts.

Pay-as-you-go 1

Pay just £1 on days that you use your phone. This plan includes unlimited minutes and texts, and 50MB of data.

Vodafone Basics

Only available through selected affiliate networks, Vodafone also offers a cheaper range known as ‘Vodafone Basics’. These plans have great value data from just £7 a month, as well as running on the 4G network available in more than 99% of the UK. Like other Vodafone plans, you can manage your account on the My Vodafone App to check your usage and bills. This plan also includes the VeryMe rewards that offer weekly discounts and giveaways and is available to all Vodafone Pay monthly customers.

You can upgrade from your Basics plan once your 12-month contract ends, or swap out for another SIM card at any time. For features not included in the Basics plan, you can simply purchase a SIM-only plan with more options for when you need it.

Be aware International calls are not included in the Basics plan, as well as OneNumber connectivity which allows you to share your phones data with other devices. You won’t be able to upgrade during your plan or make any Premium calls either. Limited extras are available, including Data, 08 number minutes, and Roaming passes for Europe Zone.

Roaming

Included in these plans are UK data, minutes and texts and the option to use your plan abroad in selected countries. Roam abroad free of charge in Zone A (Republic of Ireland, Isle of Man, Iceland and Norway) or in Europe Zone B for a small fee of £2.42 per day. For destinations further abroad this will be Zone D and will cost £7.39 a day. You can purchase a Roaming pass to reduce these costs.

Network coverage

4G data

Vodafone offers 4G coverage across the UK, so you shouldn’t have issues connecting to the Vodafone 4G network in your area. And 4G is the standard network connection offered by Vodafone, offering an average download speed of 27.9Mbps and average upload speed of 19.69Mbps.

5G data

Vodafone’s 5G network is at least ten times faster than 4G, offering an average speed of 150-200Mbps. The provider offers Ultrafast 5G network access at no extra cost to customers but you will need a smartphone that can support it. Newer iPhone and Android models typically support 5G.

Roam with Vodafone

With Vodafone Xtra Global Roaming plans you can roam in 83 worldwide destinations at no extra cost.

How does Vodafone roaming work?

Vodafone splits the world into zones, roaming Zone A is included in all plans. Additional zones included will vary per plan.

Pay monthly plans

Zones available include A, B, C, D and ‘Rest of the World’. You can use your My Vodafone account to check what zones are included in your plan.

Pay as you go plans

Zones available include A, B, ‘Around the World’ and ‘Rest of the World’. You can use your My Vodafone account to check what zones are included in your plan.

Rest of the World roaming

Plans purchased on or after 21 February 2024 will require you to purchase a Rest of the World Data Roaming pass for these destinations.

For plans purchased before 21 February 2024, you can either purchase a Rest of the World Data Roaming pass or pay for each megabyte of data for these destinations.

European Roaming passes

Plans that do not include Zone B (Europe) will cost £2.25 a day for roaming in these destinations. You can save money by purchasing a European Roaming pass available as £10 for 8 days or £15 for 15 days.

VeryMe Rewards

The VeryMe Rewards scheme gives customers access to prize draws, rewards, giveaways and discounts on high-street brands, events, restaurants, bars and cinema tickets. VeryMe Rewards also enables customers to enjoy 2-for-1 meals and get up to 25% off at restaurants thanks to its collaboration with Eat Local.

Other Vodafone perks

Spend Manager

Stay in control of how much you spend outside your monthly mobile bill by setting a limit on charges. Having the ability to go over your monthly allowance means you’ll still be able to call, text and use the internet even if you reached the limit of your airtime plan for the month.

Set your Spend Manager to anywhere between £0 and £100 a month and you won’t be charged unless you go over it. Enabling your Spend Manager is extremely useful if you want to ensure you never go without data. Vodafone will also notify you when you reach your spend limit and will disable all chargeable functions.

If you prefer to be on the safe side and avoid any extra charges, set it to £0. To add, remove or modify your Spend Manager, just use the My Vodafone app.

Refer a friend scheme

Rewards customers who refer a friend to a pay-monthly deal by giving both you and your friend a £25 Amazon voucher. To qualify for the voucher, you’ll need to request a link on the Vodafone website and send it to your friend. Your friend can use the link to sign up to a pay-monthly deal online and, once the purchase is finalised, you will both be rewarded.

Discounts for existing customers

If you’re already a Vodafone pay-monthly customer, get up to 15% off any additional phone plan you add to your account. Adding all your family to the same account can be a great way to save money on your household’s mobile bills.

Cashback

Vodafone offers up to £100 cashback with some pay-monthly plans. Enquire to find out whether you could get cashback on the deal you want – you could save a lot of money.
