She is passionate about creating children’s book illustrations, designing imaginative backgrounds and unique characters with personality. The young lady on the left is Dakota Blue Richards, a twelve-year-old from Sussex, who won a most coveted role of Lyra Belacqua in the screen version of The Golden Compass?, part one of Philip Pullman's trilogy, His Dark Materials  Dakota won the role from 10,000 other eager young hopefuls attending one of four casting calls held in the south of England.   Dakota was a big fan of the books, and loved the National Theatre production.   She wanted to play Lyra more than anything else in the world.   And now she gets to play Lyra five days a week.  The actress on the right is Nicole Kidman as the impossibly glamorous, manipulative Mrs. Coulter a woman who gives new meaning to the word mercurial, as she turns from charming to dangerous in the spin of a dice.
