Keith Chegwin, 43, was born in Bootle. As a child actor, he appeared in films such as Roman Polanski’s Macbeth, and at 13 he began working in television, appearing in Z Cars, Black Beauty and The Liver Birds. His big break came at 17 when he joined the BBC’s Multi-Coloured Swap Shop. In the late 80s, his career dipped and he became an alcoholic. He has been sober since 1992, and has re-launched his career, making an infamous appearance as host of Channel 5’s nude game show, the Naked Jungle. He presents a new series of It’s A Knockout for Channel 5, which starts tonight.
