  • SAINT PAUL, ALASKA — Thursday December 21, 2017: Homes in Saint Paul Alaska. The tribe and city recently instituted a city "beautification" project in which residents were provided with paint in the colors of their choice with which to paint their homes. Tribal President Amos Philemonoff explained that before this project, almost all of the homes were painted white with green trim--the same as when the U.S. purchased Alaska and settled onto the island. He says that not only has this project made the community look brighter, but the homes look better taken care of, which he says he thinks makes a difference in how the community views itself./ASH ADAMS
