Guna is a parliamentary constituency in Madhya Pradesh with eight assembly segments under it – Shivpuri, Kolaras, Bamori, Guna, Ashok Nagar, Chanderi, Mungaoli, and Pichhore. Chanderi town under Guna parliamentary constituency is a renowned centre for Jainism and also for the Chanderi silk fabric. BJP’s Krishna Pal Singh (Dr. K.P. Yadav) won the 2019 Lok Sabha election from Guna constituency with 52.11% votes, defeating former Congress leader Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, who later defected to BJP in 2020. Mr. Scindia had previously held on to the Guna seat since 2002 when he contested in a byelection after his father, the sitting MP Madhavrao Scindia, died in a plane crash.Guna goes to polls on May 7.
