The NDA alliance of TDP, BJP and Janasena won a landslide victory in Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday, bagging 21 parliamentary and 164 assembly seats.

The TDP won 16 Lok Sabha seats, BJP three and Janasena two, decimating the YSRCP. Out of 25 Lok Sabha seats, NDA swept 21 seats away while YSRCP managed to win only four seats.

With the BJP failing to get a majority on its own in the Lok Sabha, TDP’s 16 seats will be crucial for the NDA.

In Assembly elections, the TDP bagged 135 Assembly seats out of 175, Janasena 21 and BJP eight while YSRCP was restricted to just 11 seats, according to the data disseminated by the Election Commission.

From a record 22 MP seats in the 2019 elections, YSRCP is set to suffer an ignominious defeat as the alliance has cast a tremendous impact on the electorate with its promise of good, forward-looking governance.

Andhra Pradesh voted in the 2024 General Election in a single poll on May 13, which was Phase 4 of the 18th Lok Sabha Polls.

In the 2019 elections, YSRCP won 22 seats and TDP 3 seats and in the 2014 elections TDP won 15 seats, YSRCP 8 seats, and BJP 2 seats. TDP-BJP-JSP alliance might mark a shift because TDP’s exit from NDA in 2019 has smashed the BJP’s vote share in 2019 Lok Sabha polls from 7.18% to 0.96%, less than NOTA.
