The Election Commission of India said that the sixth phase of the General Elections 2024 today saw a voter turnout of 59.6% as of 7.45 p.m.
Among the States, West Bengal recorded the highest voter turnout (77.99%) followed by Jharkhand (61.41%), Uttar Pradesh (52.02%), Odisha (59.60%), Jammu and Kashmir (51.35%), Bihar (52.24%), Haryana (55.93%), and Delhi (53.73%), as of 5 p.m., the ECI said.
Jammu and Kashmir’s Chief Electoral Officer P C Pole said that the polling process for the five parliamentary seats in the Union Territory ended and Anantnag-Rajouri constituency registered 53% voter turnout.

He also said that the overall polling was 58% in the five seats and that it was the highest turnout in 35 years, marking a nine-per cent rise over the previous highest recorded in 2014.
Polling was underway in all seven constituencies in Delhi, 14 constituencies in Uttar Pradesh, all 10 seats in Haryana, eight seats each in Bihar and West Bengal, six seats in Odisha, four seats in Jharkhand and one seat in Jammu and Kashmir. Simultaneously, polling is being held for 42 Assembly constituencies in Odisha and the Karnal Assembly bypoll in Haryana.

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chief Mehbooba Mufti, who is contesting from the Anantnag-Rajouri seat in Jammu and Kashmir, staged a sit-in outside Bijbehara police station on the Srinagar-Jammu national highway in Anantnag district against alleged detention of her party workers and polling agents.
Ms. Mehbooba’s daughter and PDP leader Iltija Mufti alleged polling was being deliberately slowed down at a booth in the Anantnag-Rajouri constituency, a charge denied by the administration.
The last phase of polling will be on June 1 for the remaining 57 seats with counting of votes scheduled on June 4.
