CBI challenges their acquittal in the 2G spectrum scandal case.

DMK leader and former Union Minister A. Raja and party Rajya Sabha MP Kanimozhi arrive at Chennai airport on February 23, 2017 after their acquittal in the 2G case.

The Delhi High Court on Friday granted more time to former Telecom Minister A. Raja, DMK MP Kanimozhi and others to file their replies to a CBI plea challenging their acquittal in the 2G spectrum allocation case.

Justice Najmi Waziri gave the direction after some of the accused sought more time. The court listed the case for further hearing on October 9.

The CBI file the petition against a special CBI court’s order acquitting them. The Enforcement Directorate too moved the High Court challenging the verdict.

‘Money trail ignored’

The CBI contended that the special CBI Court did not appreciate the evidence it had put forward to establish the alleged irregularities. The trail of the alleged bribe money it had unearthed was not considered. Even irregularities in the implementation of the first come, first served policy of spectrum allocation was not taken into account, it submitted.

The ED also contended that the special court had not appreciated the facts and evidence in the case.
