Mumbai-based travel and lifestyle influencer Aanvi Kamdar died after falling into a 300 ft. gorge while recording a video near the Kumbhe waterfall in Mangaon in Maharashtra’s Raigad district.
According to the police, the incident occurred on 16 July around 10 a.m., when she was on a trip with her seven friends to the waterfall. She slipped into the valley while filming the surroundings and taking photographs. When her friends informed the local authorities, the Mangaon police officers and rescue forces reached the location.
Raigad Superintendent of Police Somnath Gharge said, “She passed away during the treatment. She was alive after the fall into the gorge. Initially, it appeared she was no more, but as we went closer, it was confirmed that she was breathing, and on rescue, immediately rushed to hospital.”
The 27-year-old was brought to Mangaon Taluka government hospital. The Kolad rescue team, the Coast Guard and Maharashtra State Electricity Board staff took six hours to pull up Ms. Kamdar as the heavy rainfall and the stones rushing down posed challenges in rescue operations.
