Alleging that the recent activities of the BJP-led NDA government were totally against the freedom of expression of students, DMK leader M. Karunanidhi said the Centre was yet to come out with adequate evidence to prove its claim that terrorist organisations were behind the recent rally organised by Jawaharlal Nehru University student leader Kanhaiya Kumar.
In a statement here, Mr. Karunanidhi said Mr. Kumar had been arrested allegedly for mobilising students to condemn the hanging of Afzal Guru. “A question has been raised whether expressing one’s opinion could attract sedition charges,” he said.
