Congress’ Qazi Nizamuddin defeated BJP’s Kartar Singh Bhadana and won the Manglaur Assembly seat with a slender margin of 422 votes. Mr. Nizamuddin got 31,727 votes and Mr. Bhadana 31,305 votes.

The BSP, which retained the seat in the 2022 Uttarakhand Assembly election, was relegated to the third position in the bypoll with former party MLA Sarwat Karim Ansari’s son Ubaidur Rahaman getting 19,559 votes.

In the Badrinath assembly seat, Congress’ Lakhpat Singh Butola defeated former minister and MLA BJP’s Rajendra Singh Bhandari by 5,224 votes.

The seat fell vacant after Mr. Bhandari resigned from the Congress and the state assembly to join the BJP just before the Lok Sabha polls earlier this year.
