Jamuney, a place about 15 km from the heart of this town, where Ranbir Kapoor starrer Burfi was shot, has got a boating complex to attract tourists besides its natural beauty.
Jamuney has earned an unofficial nickname ‘Burfi Puram’ after the Bollywood movie directed by Anurag Basu.
The boating complex was inaugurated by Bimal Gurung, chief of the Gorkhaland Territorial Administration (GTA), which runs the administration of three hill sub-divisions of Darjeeling district, yesterday.
Jamuney would also have a water amusement Park, a long statue of Buddha and other attractions for tourists and the entire would be completed within a year, Gurung said adding the Annual Krishi Mela would be held at there from January 12.
Tourist infrastructure would also be upgraded in spots like Beltar, Kurseong, Rohini, Dalgowan and Reli in Darjeeling district, he said.
