With one big event behind us, market focus may now switch to the next big one. The Union Budget, which incidentally, looks likely only by the second half of July. The main signals likely to move the markets will be on whether the Centre will continue with its capex push despite the pulls and pushes of a coalition government. Then there’s the question of whether a rejig of corporate versus individual tax rates, are in the offing, given the angst about taxation. For now though, the market seems to be playing it safe with sector rotation, with totally off-the-radar sectors such as FMCG and IT showing signs of a comeback, while capital goods and PSUs take a bit of breather.
