Windows 11 Version 24H2 Gets a Week D Preview Update Too

It’s not just Windows 11 versions 22H2 and 23H2: Windows 11 version 24H2 also received a Week D preview update on Tuesday. It’s just not particularly interesting.
As Laurent wrote earlier, those on Windows 11 versions 22H2 and 23H2 can optionally install KB5041587 ahead of next month’s Patch Tuesday to gain early access to a handful of new features: My (Android) Phone in Windows Share, minor improvements to Narrator and Voice Access, and an EU-focused update for Widgets that’s mostly just infrastructure work for now.

The Windows 11 version 24H2 update, KB5041865, follows a similar track. It updates the PC to Windows 11 build 26100.1591 (from 26100.1457). And it includes the Widgets infrastructure change referenced above, several quality updates (read: bug fixes), and a servicing stack update. So it’s even less monumental, and unless we’re missing something, 22H2/23H2 and 24H2 are, for now, out of sync from a functional perspective.
Next month should be more interesting, with Microsoft putting the final touches on the broader release of Windows 11 version 24H2 before releasing it in October. The current release of Windows 11 version 24H2 is only generally available on Windows on Arm-based Copilot+ PCs, though anyone with an x64-based PC can install it–and be fully supported–using the tip I published back in May.
