The best Saatva mattress overall
The Saatva Classic is a luxury innerspring hybrid designed to suit most body types and sleeping positions. We rate it as the best hybrid mattress in the world, with three levels of firmness to choose from: Soft Plus, Luxury Firm and Firm. (We tested the Luxury Firm Saatva Classic in a 11.5" profile and found it hard to fault.)
The Classic is made with 14.5-gauge recycled steel Lumbar Zone Pocketed Coils and high-density memory foam, and features a number of design elements to reduce general aches and pains. While the Saatva RX (see below) is the best choice for upper and lower back pain, the Classic is an excellent all-rounder for helping you to sleep comfortably through the night.
Starting at the top of the mattress, the Euro Top Saatva Classic is covered in breathable organic cotton treated with a botanical infusion called Guardin. This naturally blocks the growth of mold, mildew and bacteria to keep the mattress fresher for longer. You won't find fiberglass in any Saatva beds either, as the brand opts for a plant-based thistle pulp to act as a flame barrier instead.
In the center third of the mattress lies Lumbar Zone Quilting to protect your back, relieve pressure points and ease discomfort; an Active Spinal Wire keeps your spine properly aligned regardless of the position you sleep in. We found the edge support to be very good on the Saatva Classic, and that's down to the placement of foam rails along each edge. This makes it easy to get in and out of the mattress, plus you can spread out and use every inch for sleeping without losing out on support.

The best Saatva mattress for back pain
We call the Saatva RX the best mattress for back pain for its specialist build, which is designed to suit sleepers with serious, chronic back and joint conditions such as arthritis, scoliosis, and sciatica. It comes in one firmness level, dubbed 'Supportive Plush,' which our testing panel likened to firm or medium-firm.
The highlight of this 15" hybrid is its Therapeutic Support Core, which consists of 8" wrapped coils capped with 2" gel foam modules for pressure relief and cooling. A bed of 1" micro-coils is sandwiched between two 3/4" slabs of high-density foam for additional relief – and like other Saatva mattresses, there's a 1" strip of gel-infused memory foam paired with specialty quilting in the top cover for lumbar support.
Our lead tester, who has occasional lower back pain with a mild case of scoliosis, was impressed with the pressure relief along her shoulders, hips, and lower back. She also noticed an improvement in her back pain, as she was previously waking up with stiffness due to a too-firm mattress. Among our wider panel, the Saatva RX was a hit with our back sleepers and stomach sleepers – and while our average to heavyweight side sleepers found it comfortable, our lightweight side sleepers found it too firm for their liking.
While designed to provide maximum lumbar support and relieve pressure points, those with normal aches should probably try a mattress with adjustable firmness levels, such as the Saatva Classic above. (It'll be much easier on the wallet, too.) Also, the Saatva RX’s cushioning is made to reduce motion transfer, but our reviewer still found it to be quite responsive, which may be an issue for couples sharing a bed.
With a 15" height, the Saatva RX could be tough to scale for sleepers who have limited mobility. On the other hand, edge support here is excellent so you should have no issue sitting on the side of the bed when getting up or down. The best Saatva mattress for hot sleepers
If you want the best naturally cooling Saatva mattress, look no further than the Latex Hybrid, a hand-tufted bed made from natural Talalay latex. This is one of the best cooling mattress materials you'll come across, and it's superb for relieving pressure on major impact points (shoulders, hips, back, and knees) during sleep. Plus, latex is very hard-wearing and durable, which is why latex mattresses – although seemingly expensive at first glance – are excellent value for money because they are a great long-term investment in better sleep.
Latex offers a similar body-contouring feel as you'd get with the best memory foam mattresses, yet it's more natural and far more breathable due to its open-cell construction. Combined with a layer of individually wrapped recycled steel coils plus a moisture-wicking New Zealand wool cover, the Saatva Latex Hybrid mattress will provide significant relief from overheating and night sweats. The Saatva Latex Hybrid is also a great option for allergy sufferers since latex is naturally hypoallergenic, antimicrobial, and free of harmful chemicals.
There are five layers to the Saatva Latex Hybrid, starting with the hand-tufted and cushioned Euro top for instant comfort. Like the cover on the Saatva Classic, this one is made from breathable cotton and is also treated to ward off bacteria, mildew, and mold. New Zealand wool wicks away sweat and regulates your body temperature for more comfortable sleep, with a 3" layer of 5-zoned latex that adds a little bounce, a lot of pressure relief, and a better-supported lower back.
The best Saatva mattress for couples
Saatva's take on a memory foam mattress is as luxurious as you'd expect, with hefty 5lb memory foam brought in to offer the ultimate in body-hugging comfort and contouring. This is the one to buy if you like to sink into your mattress a little, feeling it contour slowly to your curves so that you sleep almost cradled throughout the night. It's a much better option than the Classic or RX if you have hip pain, and we especially recommend it if you sleep on your side.
There's also gel-infused foam here to aid breathability during sleep, so if you normally run a mile at the thought of memory foam (which can retain heat), then you'll have fewer worries here. We aren't saying it dissipates all heat because it doesn't, but it does sleep cooler than many other all-foam beds we've tested. Meanwhile, the Saatva Contour5, released earlier in 2024, is a memory foam mattress that's specially designed to keep you cool, so perhaps take a look at that one if you like the hug of foam but dislike feeling hot and bothered.
You can buy the Saatva Loom & Leaf mattress in either a relaxed firm (slightly less firm than medium-firm) or firm. Combi sleepers and side sleepers should try the relaxed firm option, while heavier people and stomach sleepers should opt for the firm to get the support they need to help them remain on top of the mattress a little more.
The Loom & Leaf also boasts impressive motion isolation, making it an ideal choice for couples who don’t want to be disturbed by their partner's movements. Our only annoyance with the Saatva Classic is the small amount of motion transfer, so if you want a bed that pretty much cancels that out, choose the Saatva Loom & Leaf instead. It comes on a year's sleep trial, with a lifetime warranty and free old mattress removal and new bed installation.

The best Saatva mattress for dual-sided firmness
The all-natural Zenhaven Natural Latex Mattress has a dual-side design so sleepers can change the feel of their bed on a whim to suit their needs at the moment.
The Gentle Firm side offers loads of support for stomach and back sleepers, particularly along their hips and lumbar. Our tester tried the Gentle Firm Zenhaven mattress at a Saatva Viewing Room and liked the subtle sink of the 5-zoned natural latex paired with the full-body wave massage from the Saatva Adjustable Base Plus.
The Luxury Plush side features ample pressure relief for side sleepers who want a plush mattress to sink into. The Zenhaven is made from Dunlop latex, a denser (but more durable) option than Talalay. It's a heavy mattress, though, weighing between 80lbs and 165lbs, so make sure you have help when flipping it over. The Solaire (below) is a smart mattress with 50 firmness levels you can control via a remote.
The best smart Saatva mattress with remote control
The Saatva Solaire Adjustable Mattress is the brand's most expensive model, featuring an impressive 50 different firmness levels available to choose from on either side of the bed. That means both you and your partner can enjoy personalized comfort without compromise, so you can sleep on a softer mattress and they get the firmer support their body needs for restful sleep.
The Solaire is technically considered an airbed since it has vulcanized air chambers, along with layers of Talalay latex and gel-infused memory foam for a breathable, contouring feel. Everything is controlled via remote too, making it a convenient option for those who prefer not to fiddle with apps that typically accompany full-blooded smart mattresses.
The six-layer Solaire shares some of the same features as the Saatva Classic too, including a naturally hypoallergenic cover made from breathable organic cotton. This is also treated with Guardin, Saatva's botanical antimicrobial treatment to reduce the growth of bacteria, mold and mildew.
The Solaire also boasts lumbar zone quilting, just like the Classic, to add more support in the center third of the mattress. Natural latex is used in the support layer, along with a 2" layer of gel-infused memory foam. If you don't know what type of mattress feel suits your body, then the Solaire with its 50 different firmness levels is definitely the best Saatva mattress for you.
The best Saatva mattress for heavy people
The Saatva HD is designed to support sleepers between 300lbs and 500lbs. With a total weight capacity of up to 1,000lbs — twice the average for a mattress — it's the best mattress for heavy people in the Saatva range.
Its sturdiness stems from a layer of tempered 12.5-gauge steel open coils (25% stronger than the industry standard) plus reinforced foam edges to prevent sagging and make it easier to get in and out of bed. There’s also a five-zone Talalay latex layer with targeted lumbar support, along with a 5lb layer of contouring memory foam to help improve circulation and relieve pressure points.
Although it's geared toward larger sleepers, the Saatva HD should appeal to a wider range of sleepers than intended, as our tester discovered during a trip to a Saatva Viewing Room. At 145lbs, she found the Saatva HD well-balanced, especially when resting on her side. This bodes well if your partner is smaller as neither one of you may have to compromise here.
The best Saatva mattress for side sleepers
The Saatva Memory Foam Hybrid was released late last year as an affordable alternative to the Saatva Classic (it costs between $70 and $500 less, depending on the Saatva mattress deal available at the time). Available in one firmness level (medium) and height profile (11.5”), it aims to provide a more contoured feel while maintaining a similar level of responsiveness to Saatva’s popular flagship model.
The Saatva Memory Foam Hybrid features 8-inch pocketed comfort coils, a gel-infused lumbar crown, and a 1.5-inch layer of memory foam with air pockets for a keen balance of cooling and support that should suit most lightweight to average sleepers.
Our tester noticed the lack of a sink-in feel that's typical of foam beds, but that also allowed for better ease of movement and plenty of support when sleeping on her back. That's not to say there's no pressure relief, as our tester's shoulder pain melted away after a long day of yard work when sleeping on this mattress. That said, side sleepers on a small budget who want to make their current bed more plush should read our Saatva Memory Foam Mattress Topper review.
Like the Saatva Classic, edge support and temperature regulation are excellent with the Saatva Memory Foam Hybrid – and while our tester rated its motion isolation 'above average,' it may not fare as well if you sleep with a very fidgety partner. (Any of Saatva's full-foam beds should perform better in that area.)

The best all-foam Saatva mattress
The Saatva Contour5 is the brand's newest model, having just launched in June 2024. This all-foam mattress promises cooler, cozier sleep through gel-infused foams, airflow channels, a breathable knit cover, and phase change materials. It also features Saatva's Lumbar Zone PCM Matrix to support your lower back to keep you in alignment.
We're in the process of testing the Contour5 and will share our full review once it's ready – although we can say that the early data looks promising. It's pricier than the incumbent Loom & Leaf, but with its advanced cooling tech, the Saatva Contour5 could be worth the cost for hot sleepers who prefer the hug of foam. Plus, it comes in two firmness levels (medium and firm) so you can tailor it to your liking.
The best Saatva mattress for kids
For parents looking for an adjustable mattress that adapts to their kids’ growing bodies, the Saatva Youth mattress may be the right option. Designed for children between the ages of 3 and 12, the flippable mattress has two sides to suit your child’s age: the first side is for 3 to 7-year-olds, with the other side is for older children. Both sides have a soft, waterproof cover and materials that maintain proper spinal alignment.
As children’s lighter builds tend not to need maximum firmness, the Saatva Youth mattress is around firm to medium-firm on the scale. However, some children (especially those who are considered small for their age) may need to opt for something more plush to support a lighter frame.
In terms of temperature regulation, the side designed for older kids has a breathable layer of comfort foam for a cooler sleep. On the other side, however, there seems to be a lack of cooling technology, which may pose a problem for little ones who sleep hot.
The best Saatva mattress for bunk beds
Saatva’s Bunk & Trundle mattress is the first luxury mattress designed exclusively for bunk and trundle beds. Its tiny 6” height is compatible with most bunk and trundle beds and does not require a box spring. The mattress’s medium-firm level is ideal for kids and teens, but may be a bit too firm for lightweight sleepers.
While it may not be the plushest bed, the gel-infused memory foam lumbar crown does provide lower back support for those who sleep on their side. In addition to side sleepers, its medium firmness also promises comfort for back sleepers. Hot sleepers should also fare well with this hybrid, as its coil layer adds more airflow for a cooler sleep. If you’re a stomach sleeper, however, you may want to opt for a firmer mattress.
The best Saatva mattress for babies
There’s a lot to consider when buying a mattress for a baby or toddler – it needs to be firm enough to support their growing bodies, but it also needs to be a good investment as they quickly outgrow their bed. Saatva’s dual-sided Crib mattress is designed for both babies and toddlers. Its first side is firm to provide double-firm support for babies, while the other side is slightly softer to support toddlers.
Another great feature is the bed’s washable cover, which is practical for cleaning up accidents. Safety should also be a main concern when buying mattresses for little ones, and this mattress protects children from the crib’s edge and uses non-toxic, hypoallergenic materials.
One of the non-toxic materials used, however, is natural latex. This material is quite expensive, so you may want to consider if this is a good investment as infant mattresses need to be replaced often as your child grows up.

No, Saatva mattresses don’t come in a box. They are shipped flat to avoid durable steel coils used in innerspring mattresses getting bent out of shape during the process of rolling up the mattress.
