Strengthening journalism training platforms: coverage of migrants and refugees

12 April 2024, the UNESCO Chair in Journalism and Communication of Farabi KazNU presented the first version of a mass open online course for journalism teachers.

During the annual VIII Scientific and Practical Conference "Models for Teaching International Journalism for Sustainable Development" held at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, representatives of academia, non-governmental and international organizations from Central Asia, China, Russia and Turkey shared their experience in teaching sustainable development topics.

UNESCO Almaty presented the strategic priorities of the Communication and Information Program for 2024-2025, including building inclusive, just, and peaceful societies by promoting freedom of expression, cultural diversity, education for global citizenship and heritage protection.

The final session demonstrated a prototype of a future mass open online course on covering migrants and refugees as part of a regional project of the International Program for the Development of Communication (IPDC).
