Introduction

The Regional Coordination Group on SDG4-Education 2030 in West and Central Africa (RCG4-WCA) supports the integration, implementation and follow-up of SDG4-Education 2030 in the West and Central Africa region, taking into account the development contexts and aspirations of each country.

The RCG4-WCA enables all major regional actors involved in the development of education in WCA to come together to define and coordinate collective strategies and joint actions in advocacy, technical assistance, and capacity building, and to exchange best practices, tools, and information for more inclusive, responsive, and resilient education systems.

UNESCO-IIEP Strategic Debates

IIEP is launching a new series of four Strategic Debates focusing on evidence-informed policy and planning – from design to implementation. Our debates will take place on 13 June, 11 July, 26 September, and 28 November 2024.

Each debate will focus on a specific theme and will facilitate discussions on challenges, innovations, and prospects in the use of data and evidence to inform sectoral analysis, as well as plan development and implementation.

Africa Dialogue Series 2024

The theme of the 2024 edition of our annual Africa Dialogue Series (ADS 2024) is “Education through Science, Technology and Innovation toward the Africa We Want.” ADS 2024 aims to mobilize actions and inspire solutions leveraging the power of Science, Technology and Innovation to boost access to quality education in Africa.

2024 Spotlight on Foundational Numeracy and Completion in Africa: Learning Counts

The 2024 Spotlight Continental Report will launch during the ministerial segment of the 2024 Conference of the African Federation of Teaching Regulatory Authorities. The report focuses on how countries align curricula, textbooks, teacher guides and assessments in primary mathematics. Drawing on detailed country research in Mauritania, Niger, South Africa, Uganda and Zambia, and additional case studies, the report supports the AU Year of Education and informs peer learning through the AU Continental Education Strategy for Africa clusters.
