Final Fantasy 6 will be released this winter on Android and iOS
Final Fantasy 6 will be released this winter on Android and iOS, Square Enix has told Kotaku.
Originally released in North America in 1994 as Final Fantasy 3, the game will be a modified version instead of a port.
"It is basically like a remake of the original FF6," but there have been some enhancements," said director and producer Takashi Tokita. "The battle systems have been altered for the other [mobile remakes] for Final Fantasy and FF6 will be the same.
"For instance grinding was an issue and people had to spend a lot of time leveling up. Now on the mobile devices the battle systems have been adjusted so you don't have to fight as much and can enjoy the game for what it is."
The next release in the Legacy series will be a port of Final Fantasy: The After Years, which is a mobile, 3D remake of the original release.
Tokita said if the Legacy project works out well, "we would like to one day be able to work with FF7"
Keep hope alive.
