It’s safe to say that the Met Gala red carpet doesn’t start until Cara Delevingne arrives. A fixture at fashion’s most important night, the supermodel has been attending since 2011 and her looks just keep getting better and better, and bolder and bolder. Case in point: Delevingne’s jeweled Stella McCartney body armor with soft glam makeup tonight.
Delevingne trusted makeup artist Rachel Goodwin for Pat McGrath Labs with her makeup look for the event. Goodwin kept it soft and ethereal, only doing a winged liner and long lashes for added drama and to define Delevingne’s eyes.
“Cara’s look was Joan Of Arc-meets-Twiggy,” says Goodwin. “On her eyes, I layered the Perma Precision Liquid Liner with false lashes and added a sheer layer of soft white shimmer across her lids and brow bones.”
To play off the rhinestone chainmail of her Stella McCartney hooded piece, Goodwin added clear Swarovski crystals to the inner and outer corners of Delevingne eyes. To keep skin fresh and dewy, Goodwin added faux freckles and stained lips and cheeks with a sheer petal pink using the Pat McGrath Divine Cream Blush: Legendary Glow Color Balm in Alluring Nude.
You don’t need super bold makeup with such a stunning jeweled garment, so soft glam is definitely the way to go. The sleeveless body armor also highlights her many cool tattoos, which we always love seeing. Plus, the model had the best accessories by her side: her entourage. The model joined singers Ed Sheeran and FKA Twigs and fashion designer Stella McCartney.
As always, Delevingne stays winning on the red carpet. We’re already excited about what her after party look (and future Met appearances) might bring. We’ll be glued to our phones to keep tabs on that, for sure.
