Idiosyncratic concept stores are making waves on Copenhagen's lifestyle scene at the moment; in the uber-trendy Nørrebro district alone there are already retailers specialising in caramels, Danish hotdogs and even nitrogen ice cream.
The latest addition to the area is Kaktus København, the brainchild of three green-fingered childhood friends – Maja, Gro and Cille – which specialises in over 150 different species of cacti and succulents.
What started out as the odd gardening class together has turned into a full blown love affair with all things botanical. After a short stint at fairs and markets across the capital, they have now settled into a more permanent residence on Jægersborggade.
The beautifully curated selection of weird and wonderful cacti has been sourced from a local Danish grower, fondly named 'Cactus Man' by the three friends. Not only do succulents fit well with minimalist Scandinavian interior themes, they're also pretty low maintenance when it comes to watering – the perfect addition to any home in need of a little easy greenery.
