Besides the banks of the Asano River and footsteps from the teahouses and Geisha locale of the historic Higashi Chaya District, a former office building has been sensitively converted into a composite design hotel, focused upon sharing, in myriad ways, all that Japan’s Hokuriku region has to offer.
There is a private top floor loft with it’s own garden; a range of private doubles that maximise lounging space via loft beds and bunks; and shared dormitories for the traveller keen not to sacrifice style at economy’s expense.
Rooms and shared spaces are outfitted by a revolving exhibition of local artists, designers and galleries – including Kanazawa’s Galley TEN and artist run space The Room Below – whilst the region’s local products are purveyed from a carefully curated design kiosk, incorporated into the hotel’s reception desk.
Fine dining from A.K.A restaurant includes the option of a Japanese breakfast of aesthetic flair and local gastronomy, whilst the HUM&Go# coffee stand ensures Kanazawa locals and guests alike are well caffeinated.
Complimented by regular creative events and workshops, an urban atmosphere of creative exchange pervades, situating HATCHi’s notion of ‘sharing’ at the nexus of accommodation options, co-working lifestyles, and the interface of local culture and creatives with hotel guests.
