The Magazine — London, UK
Many of us have seen a Zaha Hadid building by now, at least in pictures. But dining inside one is a first, so the Magazine is a hot ticket since launching earlier this month. In Hadid's undulating extension to the classical structure that houses the new Serpentine Sackler Gallery, the Magazine is washed in light from beams piercing the rippling roof, and waves of glass that look onto gardens designed by Arabella Lenox-Boyd. Furnishings are simple and contemporary to as not to upstage the building - or the menu by Oliver Lange, who trained under Nobu's Kazu Hashimoto. Lange uses the freshest local fish (and the odd cut of meat) in Japanese-inflected dishes like Dublin Bay prawns, baby pak choi and corn scone, and robata-grilled freshwater eel with duck liver terrine.
