Just had an intriguing press release from Firefly telling us they've been appointed as the official UK PR agency for Freesat. According to Firefly, the service will launch in the UK "this spring".
Freesat is a joint venture between the BBC and ITV intended to bring free HD programmes to UK homes without a subscription. Viewers will have to pay for a digital set-top box, satellite dish and installation, but that's all.
TV manufacturers such as Panasonic have already confirmed that some of their 2008 TVs will have built-in Freesat receivers, as we reported here.
Further announcements are expected shortly, so we'll bring them to you as soon as we know more.
