AMD announced a plethora of new processors for laptops during its CES 2022 presentation (hours preceding Intel's 12th Gen Mobile Chip reveal). The company is going big on mobile processing, offering a total of 12 new SKUs for consumers to pick from when buying AMD-powered laptops. As well as using the newer Zen 3+ core architecture and RDNA 2 graphics (with new 6000M series mobile GPUs) to launch 6000 series CPUs, AMD is also revamping some 5000 series chips.
The new processor and graphics tech should result in considerably better performance in games (two times the graphics performance of previous-gen Ryzen CPUs) and extended battery life, according to AMD. The new series is built using TSMC's 6nm transistor manufacturing process. It's allowed AMD to push the boundaries of its mobile processors, resulting in boost clock speeds of 5.0GHz.
The maximum number of cores and threads you can find with the new 6000 series is 8 and 16, offering considerable performance for more demanding tasks and gaming. Then there's the inclusion of DDR5 RAM support, PCIe 4.0 and USB 4.0 support, AI noise-cancellation for filtering background noise in calls, and Wi-Fi 6E.

AMD also announced the new Ryzen 6000 series CPUs are the first to support advanced Windows 11 security features with an integrated Microsoft Pluton security chip. Pair this tech with AMD's own Secure Processor and Memory Guard and you've got one secure, yet very capable mobile processor.
As well as the new mobile processors outlined above, AMD announced 6000 PRO CPUs for businesses and professionals with the same Zen 3+ architecture and 6nm process. You can expect to see the best Windows laptops with AMD's new 6000 series processors as early as February.
