Crimson Desert Gameplay Trailer Shows Off Tons of New Mechanics - Gamescom Opening Night Live

Combat, traversal, sky islands, and a lot more.

After a multi-year absence, Pearl Abyss has re-revealed its fantasy RPG Crimson Desert with an extended gameplay trailer.

Shown off at Gamescom Opening Night Live 2023, a lengthy gameplay trailer detailed what fans can expect in Crimson Desert. You can check out the gameplay trailer for yourself below to see what Crimson Desert is all about.

We saw a lot of sword combat — both one-on-one and in hordes — complete with toppling structures, bow and arrow combat, fighting on horseback, and huge explosions. We also got an idea of some of the world, including giant castles, bounties to take on, huge vistas, fishing, hijacking carriages, and a lot more. And yes, you can pet the dog.

We also saw some gameplay that instantly evoked thoughts of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, including a chain of Sky Islands floating above the overworld, a hot air balloon, and puzzle solving with alien-looking artifacts. You can also scale some trees and buildings, glide through the air, and climb a massive Shadow of the Colossus-like beast.

No release date or window was given for Crimson Desert.

Pearl Abyss first revealed Crimson Desert back in 2019. The South Korean developer behind MMORPG Black Desert Online also revealed Plan 8 and DokeV at the time. It's been a while since we've heard about Crimson Desert, as Pearly Abyss delayed the game indefinitely in July 2021.
