“As the climate crisis accelerates, its impacts extend far beyond melting glaciers and rising sea levels. One of the more insidious threats, particularly for Africa, is the growing prevalence of foodborne diseases. These invisible dangers, exacerbated by climate change, threaten food security and sovereignty across the continent.” To close off #WorldFoodMonth 🌾, we have co-authored a blog with Food & Trees for Africa, looking into climate change’s impact on Africa’s Food Security and Sovereignty. Read all about it on our website: https://lnkd.in/d-HpdGdk #WorldFoodMonth #WorldFoodDay #ClimateChange #FoodSovereignty #ClimateAction

The African Climate Reality Project will be at COP29 this year where we’re launching a Climate Finance Tracker with African Climate Reality Project Philippines. This tool will help you monitor climate finance flows in your country and validate funded climate projects. We’re calling for an ambitious New Collective Quantified Goal (NCQG) to help developing countries achieve a Just Transition and shift to clean energy. As countries work toward their climate goals, the need for transparent and equitable funding is more urgent than ever. Fair financing is critical - African countries need grants to fight climate change and include youth voices in the climate conversation. #COP29 #FairFinancing #ClimateAction #FundTheFuture

LeadingOnClimate in Senegal! 🇸🇳 The African Climate Reality Project facilitated a capacity building workshop on Advancing Local Climate Action in Dakar, Senegal, on the 22nd of October. The aim of this workshop was to capacitate CRLs with resources to advance the work they’re already doing in climate action. At ACRP, we use a train-the-trainer model to build capacity in communities for local African solutions to enable more informed adaptation responses. #ClimateAction #LocalAction #ClimateRealityLeaders #TheAfricaWeWant

ACRP's Communication Manager, Dimpho Lekgeu, participated in the inaugural Youth Development Collaboration Lab youth summit, aimed at fostering collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and practical solutions for the youth development sector in South Africa. She moderated a panel discussion on Youth Participation in Policy and Governance. 👥🌍 Meaningful youth engagement in a country with 30%+ youth population is essential for development, no matter the sector. Without meaningful youth participation, climate action will fall short of addressing the needs and realities of future generations and will lack innovation and creativity. The resources from ACRP's International Policy and Cooperation campaign are designed to support youth participation in critical decision-making and policy processes in the climate space. I had the privilege of attending the two-day Fair Finance School organized by the Quest for Growth and Development Foundation, led by Smith Nwokocha. The training provided invaluable insights into international financial institutions and the critical role of finance in climate activism. It also emphasized the need for greater accountability within organizations working toward climate solutions. Grateful for the opportunity to learn, grow, and build capacity to drive meaningful impact in Nigeria's climate space.
