Aurora Rogmark is our AI Catalyst, working with Generative AI (GenAI) in the Group Technology Team. She initially joined us as a Master’s Thesis Intern at ASSA ABLOY Global Solutions, where she developed five AI/ML models for forecasting sales. “Currently, my work involves developing Large Language Model (LLM) solutions for the patent and product domains, evaluating and developing new GenAI use cases for various business applications, and collaborating with our AI Ambassadors” Aurora says. The interest in GenAI is increasingly growing and recently Aurora got to share her knowledge through a GenAI webinar that broke the attendance record at ASSA ABLOY. “Perhaps paradoxically, I find that GenAI’s artificially generated output represents the most human-centric technology one could ever work with, as it seeks to imitate and enhance the creative output and productivity of people. While the development of these solutions is inherently technical, the underlying philosophy is just as much about understanding the mind, behavior, and human ingenuity” she says. Aurora sees that GenAI plays an important role in the future of work, and we are excited to follow her journey! Let’s create a safer and more open world – together! Every second that a door stays unnecessarily open can lead to significant energy loss. That’s why we developed ecoLOGIC, our own AI algorithm that can dynamically adapt door behavior to maximize building energy savings without sacrificing customer comfort. Imagine saving up to 14,000 kilowatt-hours a year, just by letting your doors work smarter! #WGBW24 #BuildingTheTransition #creatingaccess #accessolutions

Meet Oana Gheorghe, Order to Cash Manager working in the Commercial Excellence Team in the UK. Oana joined the company in 2020, “I instantly felt that it was the right role for me since it provided an opportunity to shape the position. The role was being created for work that needed to be developed from scratch, and I saw this as an exciting challenge,” she says. When joining ASSA ABLOY, Oana was seeking a challenge, and she certainly found it. She agrees with the one of the company’s statements, "Never Boring," which also means dealing with constant change. A significant part of Oana’s role involves implementing and driving change, which is sometimes met with natural hesitance.  However, Oana's experience has shown that while there may be initial resistance, people tend to embrace the change once they recognize its benefits, just like she does. What does a workday look like? For Oana, a perfect workday involves collaborating with colleagues at workshops and gatherings, all working towards a common goal. When faced with challenging days, Oana has her own strategies to improve her mood. She often takes a walk outside or puts on some music and sings along until her spirit lifts. Life outside work Originally from Romania, Oana spent her first two years in the UK in London, but always longed to be closer to nature. So, just over two years ago, she made the big move to Newcastle with her husband and beloved dog. As a nature enthusiast, Oana describes the move as one of her best decisions, as she strives to spend as much time outdoors as possible. As we celebrate 30 years of ASSA ABLOY, we are proud to recognize colleagues who have built a long career with us. One such colleague is Jan Skærup, Business Unit Manager at Entrance Systems’ Business Segment Industrial. This year, Jan is celebrating his 40th anniversary in the industry. Jan started his career as a plumber and soon moved into production, eventually becoming an installation manager. Jan’s journey with us began when the company where he worked for, Faltec, became part of the ASSA ABLOY Group. Jan’s business unit has a great record of retaining talent, with many colleagues staying for decades. When asked about the key to success, Jan said: “people run this business. Without them, we have nothing.” He stressed the importance of continuous training and social events like the bi-annual company party, which everyone looks forward to. As a leader, Jan makes it a point to know everyone by name and personally congratulate them on their birthdays. “The most important aspect of leadership is respect. We treat everyone fairly, and no one gets left behind”. As he nears retirement in a few years, he hopes to stay connected with his old colleagues and perhaps close this exciting chapter with a small party. #creatingaccess #accessolutions #togetherwecelebrate30
