Create Awareness, Protect Health Tobacco smoking is a leading cause of lung cancer, lung disease, and over 14 other types of cancer, along with 17 smoking-related illnesses and non-communicable diseases. Smoking not only affects your health but also endangers the health of those around you. Even when the smoke disappears, toxic residues remain, clinging to surfaces and putting loved ones at risk through third-hand smoke. Second-hand smoke and third-hand smoke have serious health impacts, especially for children and vulnerable individuals. CANSA encourages everyone to stand together in raising awareness about these harms. Let’s protect our communities by educating ourselves and others. Together, we can create healthier, smoke-free spaces! https://lnkd.in/gfBDK_pa #NoTobacco #LowerCancerRisk

💗 Join the #DryAndDetectSelfExam Movement! 💗 In honour of Breast Cancer Awareness Month this October, PEP has partnered with CANSA to launch the Dry & Detect Towel Initiative. Nearly half a million towels have been donated to CANSA Care Centres across South Africa, encouraging women to check their breasts regularly – because early detection can make all the difference! Each towel includes a tag with essential breast self-exam instructions and a QR code linking to an educational microsite with more resources. This simple tool aims to keep self-exams top of mind when your top is off - making breast health a daily priority. Let’s stand together in this fight against breast cancer. Take your own breast self-exam, snap a selfie with ANY pink towel, and share with the hashtag #DryAndDetectSelfExam. Tag friends to help spread the word and support the movement for early detection and awareness! https://lnkd.in/dq-XRGrc #DryAndDetectSelfExam #WomensHealth #LowerCancerRisk #CANSAScreening

National Nutrition Week may be over, but the message lives on. CANSA encourages everyone to make healthy food choices every day—not only to reduce cancer risk but also to gain lifelong benefits. Affordable, nutritious food from a young age helps children and adults reach their full potential by providing the body and brain with the fuel needed for optimal growth and development. Eating the right foods also lowers the risk of diseases like heart disease and diabetes. This means fewer medical visits and less stress on individuals, families, communities and the healthcare system. It also supports sustained energy and focus, enhancing learning and work performance. Let’s not forget, affordable, good, nutrition also supports mental health by boosting mood and reducing stress. Eat Right for a Better Life – make every bite count for a healthier, happier future! 🥦🍎 #NationalNutritionWeek #LowerCancerRisk #CANSASmartChoice

This morning, CANSA's Head of Marketing and Communications, Lucy Balona, joined the lovely ladies on SABC 2's Morning Live to discuss Women's Health, with a spotlight on breast cancer as we observe Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Lucy shared insights on the importance of regular check-ups, recognising changes or symptoms in your body, and keeping health a priority. A special highlight mentioned was our #DryAndDetectSelfExam pink towel campaign with PEP! This initiative is a powerful reminder to conduct monthly self-exams and stay in tune with your body. Remember, while we honour breast health for one month, staying vigilant about your health is a year-round commitment! #WomensHealth #LowerCancerRisk #CANSAScreening #CANSACares #CANSACareAndSupport #DryAndDetectSelfExam
