Our founder, Chantelle, was so unfulfilled in her career that she turned to drug abuse which led to her losing everything. By finding her purpose, she has taken up the quest to ensure that no-one else need ever experience that level of personal loss.     Managers are cracking - and more training won't help. Globally we are experiencing an increasingly unsettled employer-employee relationship with employees feeling disempowered and sceptical due to consinuous change. We live in a world that is increasingly characterised by rapid changes, and it's not going to go away anytime soon. Skills are certainly important, but more important than ever is addressing the whole person. Work and careers are changing, and one of the trends we are going to start seeing more of is adaptive career path planning. This is about facilitating career growth by aligning business needs with employee’s larger goals, interests, and skills that enable employees to expand. And how do we do that? Simple.     If you're in South Africa, did you also notice a shift in the energy on Monday? Like the collective mood of the entire country was suddenly more tolerant, more patient, more generous. Totally attributed to the the Bok's World Cup victory on the weekend of course, but here's what I find interesting: This shift in mood was brought about by our elation at our victory. And the elation led to a deeper sense of purpose - this is what showed up across society on Monday. So if we can achieve this united sense of purpose as a country, surely it is replicable as a team? Our sense of purpose is what brings us together, and makes us work towards and celebrate a common goal. That sense of purpose is unleashed through changing the underlying emotion. Starting with elation, subsiding into happiness, and sustaining through joy. Elation and happiness are emotions that result from external stimuli, and they subside. But if we use that to access inner joy, then we can sustain a sense of purpose much longer. On a macro level, I'm not sure the nation will sustain a deeper sense of meaning. But on a micro level, you CAN sustain this deeper sense of meaning if you curate the emotions on an individual level. Happy people are more tolerant and more generous as we witnessed on Monday.     Want to hear a new spin on "purpose"? From the minute we are born, we initiate a process of desire and growth. Babies have pretty simple desires and they make it known when these desires are not met. When the desire is met, they grow. Purpose achieved. So why do we complicate this as we grow? We have desires, but we stifle them. And because we don't reach out for that which we desire, we don't grow. And when we don't grow, we feel like life has no meaning. No PURPOSE.
