Last night, the KZN Tourism & Film Team, together with KZN filmmakers, attended a special screening at Joburg Film Festival of HAPPY: The True Story of Happy Sindane, a powerful and thought-provoking film directed by Vusi Africa Sindane. The film revisits the widely known South African story of a teenage white boy raised by a Black family, who later embarks on a search for his biological white parents. Through this compelling retelling, Sindane shifts the narrative, offering a fresh perspective on identity, race, and belonging in post-apartheid South Africa. Following the screening, Vusi Africa Sindane shared insights on the film’s impact, sparking meaningful discussions on the social and cultural themes explored. It was an inspiring evening celebrating the power of storytelling in shaping perspectives and igniting conversations. #FilmInKZN #JoburgFilmFestival
