As we gear up for FSC® Forest Week, starting Monday 23 September, we’re proud to stand as a certified holder of the FSC® - C161501 accreditation—an international mark of responsible forest management. To mark the occasion, we're excited to share that since early 2023, we've been nurturing our very own FIL Forest at Bodhi Khaya in the Western Cape. In partnership with Platbos and the non-profit organization Greenpop, we've embarked on a reforestation and rehabilitation mission to restore the indigenous coastal forest that once thrived in this area. Bodhi Khaya serves as the critical link between the old growth stands of the Platbos Reserve and Grootbos Reserve. Together, they are working to expand and reconnect the remaining fragments of indigenous forest at Bodhi Khaya to these reserves. So far, 267 trees have been planted, with each one being dedicated to a different FIL/A4L employee and client. This initiative reflects our deep-rooted commitment to FSC values, environmental preservation, and sustainable resource management. By investing in reforestation and responsible forest management, we are actively safeguarding the future of our forests and making sure they thrive for generations to come. #FSCForestWeek #Sustainability #All4Labels #Reforestation

When the brand behind the Unbelievable Range sought to make a splash with a limited-edition look, they envisioned something that would disrupt the market—colourful, fun, and eye-catching. FIL/A4L took on the challenge, elevating their no-label look to something truly striking with a full-body shrink sleeve. The result? 5 bold blends, each with its own captivating design, collectively creating a unique and cohesive shelf presence. FIL/A4L brought this vision to life, ensuring these wines weren’t just noticed—they became conversation starters. The shrink sleeves were flexo-printed in 4 and 5 colours, along with 2 whites, on a 40-micron PET substrate. The vibrant, modern, and abstract designs offer individual impact while packing even more punch when displayed together. Thoughtfully chosen colours deliver an unmistakable 'WOW' factor on the shelf. The entire range was designed using pure linework, avoiding tonal variations, which amplifies the rich density of the colours. This precision, combined with circular shapes and clean lines, crafted a contemporary yet artistic look. These intricate designs were carefully simulated using pre-distortion software, ensuring that they maintained their integrity even after the shrinking process. As a result, the artist’s original vision was beautifully preserved across the bottle’s contours and high-shrink areas, delivering a perfect fit. The outcome was nothing short of "Unbelievable.” In fact, the client is ecstatic with the final look of the finished product and has already seen a definite spike in sales thanks to this limited-edition branding. #All4Labels #casestudy #winesleeves

FIL proudly became part of the All4Labels Group in December 2023, which is ranked among the top 3 largest label print groups in the world! Safety is at the forefront of all we do, and therefore it’s no surprise that being the Safety, Health and Environmental Lead for FIL / A4L, is no small feat! Meet the phenomenal woman who has taken on this pivotal role: Cindy Zulu. An only child, raised by her grandmother in a strict catholic home in St Wendolines, KZN. After matriculating at Queensburgh Girls High, she obtained her bachelor’s degree at UKZN in Environmental Management and Development and completed her Safety, Health and Environment Certificate through SAMTRAC. Cindy began her career in the printing industry in 2014 as a Safety Officer and feels privileged to work for organisations renowned for their commitment to health and safety. Earlier this year, she attended the All4Labels Globel SHEQ Summit in Barcelona, where she connected with Health and Safety Officers from all 59 All4Label sites worldwide and exchanged ideas. “In my current role at All4Labels Durban, I witness the successes and achievements made towards maintaining a safe work environment that also promotes mental health and well-being of our staff. I love being a woman in print because of how dynamic and fascinating packaging and labels are. It is intriguing to see how label printing is so diverse that it offers customers an experience with the product before even using it. As a woman in print, I aim to safeguard this positive influence and inspire future aspiring young women.” #womenpower #breakingboundaries #owningherfuture

Diversity isn’t a deliberate strategy at FIL / A4L Dbn; it’s an intrinsic way of life that has evolved naturally. Perhaps that’s what happens when a company was founded 27 years ago by a woman on her own with one press on a farm and grows into a 10,000 sqm print powerhouse! We’re fortunate to have exceptionally driven, talented women on our team. In celebration of Women’s Month, we’d like to introduce you to a few of them throughout the month. Meet Desiree Munsamy, our Head of Quality for our full operation! A proud wife and mother to a spirited 3-year-old daughter, Desiree is a qualified Food Technologist and is currently studying a Diploma in Packaging after working in quality for 20 years. We were fortunate to have her join us in 2014 and she has been an invaluable asset ever since. Here’s what she has to say about being a powerful woman in print: “Historically, the print industry was dominated by men, but women have always been at the heart of its transformation. They have defied stereotypes, broken barriers, and demonstrated extraordinary talent and resilience. I love being a woman in print, especially at FIL / All4Labels Dbn, because it gives me the opportunity to shatter the glass ceiling that prevents women from rising to positions of responsibility and advancing to higher positions within an organisation simply because they are women. I aim to use the opportunities I have gained in the printing industry to empower and inspire other women to revolutionise this once male dominated field and prove that women can succeed in any industry they choose. My goal is to continue to champion diversity and inclusion, ensuring that every woman has the opportunity to contribute and thrive. I want to support initiatives that empower women, provide mentorship, and create environments where everyone’s voice is heard and valued. In every facet of this industry—whether it’s design, production, management, or entrepreneurship—women have made significant contributions. They are the creative minds behind the most captivating designs, the leaders driving innovation, and the mentors guiding the next generation of talent. I am proud to be an advocate of change and hope to continue pushing boundaries, embracing innovation and inspiring others to join us on this remarkable journey.” #womenpower #breakingboundaries #owningherfuture

Next month sees an exceptionally exciting milestone for FIL / A4L Durban as we welcome our first female Digital Press Operator! Meet Samukelisiwe Ndaba, better known by everyone as Sam! Sam is a fine example of how strength, ambition and determination can take you anywhere you want to go to. Sam joined our team in 2017 as a sub-contracted Cleaner. From the moment she arrived, she continually asked our factory staff a myriad of questions as to how the presses function, what they look for quality-wise on the labels and how everything works. She soon began applying for permanent positions as they became available and quickly became a full-time Quality Controller on both the Digital and Flexo presses by 2018. After a brief break in 2022 when she left to become a Data Capturer at a refrigeration company, Sam realised that print was now firmly in her blood and she returned to join us in 2023. She continued to ask to questions and rise through the ranks, always telling our Digital Supervisors and Managers that one day she’d have their jobs! Fast forward to 1 September 2024 and Sam officially becomes our first female Digital Operator, running the press from start to finish on her own! She says that the excitement from all her peers has been tangible, with everyone being so supportive and happy for her! She cites her two Digital Managers, Raveen Bhugwandeen and Nazeer Gafoor as her biggest mentors and supporters over the last few years - encouraging her to keep pushing ahead. They are her biggest supporters, aside from her mom and 11 year old son of course! Sam has shared with us how much her mom has taught her in life about finance, managing her money, being independent and ambitious! She and her mom have certainly done each other proud, with her mom being a single parent who managed to send her to Futura High School, tertiary education and buy Sam a car when she was younger. Sam in turn, has an apartment which she shares with her mom and son, as she too is a financially independent single parent. Sam ensures that she takes her mom and son on regular holidays as travel is another huge passion of hers! Fluent in three languages, self-made, a single mom breaking boundaries with her insatiable thirst for knowledge and infectious ambition, it’s an absolute privilege and inspiration to have Ms Samukelisiwe Ndaba on our team at FIL / All4Labels Durban! #womenpower #breakingboundaries #owningherfuture
