This month is a very special one for our Principal, Judy Van Freden, as it marks 25 years of service at Sanlam, having joined the company in 1997. Over the years as a Principal, Senior Financial Planner and Investment Specialist at Future Planning BlueStar in Pretoria, Judy’s enthusiasm has never wavered, and she has consistently been among the top achievers with a career that has been marked by a series of successes. In celebration of her outstanding service, we asked her to share a few wise words with us. As someone who has dedicated her heart and soul to her career, Judy mentioned that it’s important to focus on the journey rather than the destination and do your best. One of the many things she’s enjoyed throughout her career as a financial planner is the satisfaction one gets after sorting out a client’s financial matters. ‘I feel like I’ve just spring-cleaned someone’s house when I’ve revised their portfolio. When an initially disgruntled client comes in and afterwards says thank you, and how surprised they are by our good service and advice, it makes it all worth it’, she said. Yesterday, I had the pleasure of attending a phenomenal Financial Literacy session hosted by Commercii , in collaboration with Sanlam . The event featured two exceptional speakers: Judy Kirsten from Future Planning BlueStar - Financial Advisory Services authorised by Sanlam and financial literacy advocate, Nicolette Mashile. The session was a deep dive into the intricacies of personal finance, with Judy and Nicolette delivering invaluable insights on budgeting, saving, investing, and managing debt.
