About us
Greenpeace is an independent global campaigning network that acts to change attitudes and behaviour, protect and conserve the environment and promote peace. It comprises 26 independent national/regional Greenpeace organisations with a presence in over 55 countries across Europe, Africa, the Americas, Asia and the Pacific, as well as a coordinating and supporting organisation, Greenpeace International. Since the late 1990s, Greenpeace had been actively campaigning on illegal logging in the Congo Basin Forest in Central Africa. Officially, Greenpeace Africa was established with its office opening in Johannesburg in November 2008. We currently have offices in: Cameroon (Yaounde) DRC (Kinshasa) Kenya (Nairobi) Senegal (Dakar) South Africa (Johannesburg) Our vision is an Africa where people live in harmony with nature in a peaceful state of environmental and social justice. Greenpeace has always been more than an organisation. We have been, and are today, a movement. A diverse, multinational, multicultural movement of ordinary individuals determined to bring about extraordinary changes necessary to realise a greener, more peaceful future. Greenpeace is an equal opportunity employer with a longstanding commitment of providing a work environment that respects the dignity and worth of each individual. We recognise and value the benefits and strengths that diversity brings to our employees and the whole organisation and we thrive in an environment that encourages respect and trust. We’re not saying that market traders don’t benefit from second-hand trade. But they take a gamble buying a bale of second-hand clothes when a large amount of it is unsellable which is what we call dead waste. Stop dead waste, demand for better quality clothes and support local solutions. Sign the petition! 👉 https://act.gp/3U0FFMO

Excited to share that our team is participating in the Environmental Protection Dialogue 2024 in Lusaka, Zambia, from October 9-11! This three-day gathering revolves around the theme: “STRENGTHENING ENVIRONMENTAL LAW FOR THRIVING COMMUNITIES.” Around 500 delegates, civil society organizations, and traditional leaders have come together to engage in vital discussions aimed at uncovering sustainable solutions for environmental protection and ensuring human rights are upheld for flourishing communities. Greenpeace Africa is once again championing a fair transition away from fossil fuels, urging that a robust and ambitious climate financing framework for African nations be a key topic at COP29 this November. We are eager to partner with the Centre of Environment Justice to safeguard our environment and advocate for justice for our communities throughout Africa.
