Vegetables come with their own natural protection! They don’t need layers of unnecessary plastic suffocating the planet! Yet, supermarkets continue to wrap our food in fossil fuel-based plastics – and it's time we speak out against this insanity. Plastics are made from 99% fossil fuels, the very driver of the climate crisis. By staying silent, we’re allowing this harmful practice to continue, while our oceans, wildlife, and communities bear the brunt. It comprises 26 independent national/regional Greenpeace organisations with a presence in over 55 countries across Europe, Africa, the Americas, Asia and the Pacific, as well as a coordinating and supporting organisation, Greenpeace International. Since the late 1990s, Greenpeace had been actively campaigning on illegal logging in the Congo Basin Forest in Central Africa. Officially, Greenpeace Africa was established with its office opening in Johannesburg in November 2008. We currently have offices in: Cameroon (Yaounde) DRC (Kinshasa) Kenya (Nairobi) Senegal (Dakar) South Africa (Johannesburg) Our vision is an Africa where people live in harmony with nature in a peaceful state of environmental and social justice. Greenpeace has always been more than an organisation. We have been, and are today, a movement. A diverse, multinational, multicultural movement of ordinary individuals determined to bring about extraordinary changes necessary to realise a greener, more peaceful future. Greenpeace is an equal opportunity employer with a longstanding commitment of providing a work environment that respects the dignity and worth of each individual. Fossil fuels are at the heart of our environmental crises - from pollution to ecosystem destruction. Here’s how: ➡️ Plastic: Did you know 99% of plastics come from fossil fuels? That plastic clogging our oceans, choking wildlife and affecting human health is a direct result of oil and gas extraction. ➡️ Deforestation: Across Africa, forests are cleared not just for wood but to drill for oil, leaving landscapes bare and biodiversity at risk. ➡️ Deep-Sea Mining: Our oceans face a new threat from deep-sea mining, all for extracting resources for fossil fuels, leaving underwater ecosystems at risk of irreparable damage. It’s time to make the fossil fuel industry pay for the climate crisis we’re facing. At #COP29, we demand accountability - because our planet and communities can’t afford the cost of inaction. Remember, hope is not a strategy, but a key component of resilience. 💪 As the world rallied for the UN Biodiversity COP16, activists rallied to protect our source of life: nature. It is time to confront the insatiable greed of industries that exploit our natural resources and the financial institutions that enable them. 💸 Our planet is grappling with the catastrophic effects of rampant consumption and environmental destruction. Communities and biodiversity alike are suffering as we face record-breaking heat waves, devastating floods, and wildfires. The collapse of ecosystems poses a serious and tangible threat to our existence. According to the World Bank, nature is the backbone of our global economy, with over half of the world’s GDP reliant on its services. This highlights the urgent need to protect and restore our natural ecosystems, which are far more valuable than the industries that profit from their destruction. Imagine a world where, the US$7 trillion that banks and corporations currently funnel into harmful activities, according to the UNEP, is redirected toward nature restoration and protection. 🌳 The potential for transformation is immense, and it starts with governments finally acting on their promises to protect and restore at least 30 % of Earth’s land and water, while at the same time respecting Indigenous land rights and local communities. What is your message of #HopeforNature to encourage world leaders to act? 💚 💌 Send your message today and make your voice heard at the UN Biodiversity COP16! #DefundNatureDestruction #RestoreNature #COP16 #PeaceWithNature

Don't be fooled by the plastics industry into thinking that recycling and clean- ups are the solution to the plastics crisis! It's the industry's way of brainwashing us so they can quietly get away with their continued and uninterrupted production of plastic pollution. Help stop this from happening 👉 https://act.gp/3YnRMF1
