🗣️ Today, on #InternationalMotherLanguageDay, we highlight a crucial aspect of South Africa's educational landscape. While mother-tongue instruction has been supported by policy since 1997, implementation requires careful consideration. Injini strongly agrees with Daily Maverick's analysis that success in Mother-Tongue-Based Bilingual Education depends on a comprehensive approach that aligns policy, curriculum, and teacher training. Robust initial teacher education programmes are key to this transformation. This systematic approach, which equips educators with theoretical and practical knowledge, could positively impact South Africa's educational future.
